BALLET INSTRUCTOR 

Janna Squires

Family is at the center of Janna's life, and when she was young, her mother inspired her with a love for dance. Janna began her formal ballet education in kindergarten, and she and her older brother received instruction from Marsha Russell and were taught the technique of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). They later trained under Sharon Seder Meko and Nadja Langenhorst as members of Ballet Etudes, a pre-professional ballet company in Mesa, AZ. Their family gave them endless support as they participated in the busy classes and demanding performance schedules required of company dancers. 

While in high school, Janna began offering affordable ballet classes for youth in her neighborhood. Her father, who taught school for over 30 years, helped her gain an understanding of effective classroom management, and her mother provided artistic advice and creative costume design/construction that helped keep recital costs as low as possible for students at their studio. 

After graduating from high school, Janna studied Early Childhood Education and Dance at Brigham Young University. She then continued to teach ballet after her marriage and in between the births of her three children, with help from her younger sister, who is also a dance instructor. 

When Janna and her family moved to Sierra Vista in 2015, Janna took a break from teaching to have more time dedicated to her children. Her youngest is now in high school, and with love and encouragement from her husband, Janna is excited to be teaching again! 

Janna loves the process of creating choreography, the artistry of ballet, and the expressiveness of music and dance. She also absolutely loves to teach, and she finds joy in watching each student progress. She thinks Sierra Vista is a wonderful place to live, and she hopes that Beautiful Balance Ballet will be a welcoming studio and a positive addition to our amazing community!
