STUDIO DRESS CODE

Beautiful Balance Ballet Studio follows high standards of modesty. Dancers will need to provide their own dance attire that adheres to our dress code policies.

Female Dress Code:

*Short-sleeved black leotards with no attached skirt (no high cut legs, low neck lines, or excessively low backs).

*Pink ballet tights.

*Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes (no dress-up or slipper style shoes). Dancers in Pre-Ballet through Ballet 1 should wear full-sole shoes, and dancers in Ballet 2 or older may wear either full-sole or split-sole shoes. Shoes should only be worn while dancing to keep them clean and in good condition.

*A pull-on or wrap ballet skirt of any color may be worn over the leotard.

*Older female dancers should wear appropriate top support undergarments as needed under leotards. Undergarment bottoms are generally not needed beneath tights (the tights function as the undergarment), but if they are worn, neutral-colored undergarments are recommended for less visibility.

*Hair should be worn in a tidy bun, with no hair in the face. If hair is too short for a bun, hair can be pinned back or tied in a short ponytail. (Here is a link for several Bun Builder Kits. They help a lot with keeping hair tidy!)

*Small stud earrings are the only kind of jewelry to be worn by dancers in the studio.

*Glasses are always allowed, but a sport band or other strap is recommended to keep them in place.

Male Dress Code:

*Male dancers in Pre-Ballet through Ballet 1 should wear a tucked-in white t-shirt, black shorts or sweatpants, thin white or black socks (sock color should match shoes), and white or black (leather or canvas) ballet shoes. Undergarments should be supportive and not too loose.

*Male dancers in Ballet 2 through Ballet 5 should wear a white dance shirt, modest black dance pants or leggings, white or black dance socks or tights (color should match shoes), white or black (leather or canvas) ballet shoes, and a dance belt or other supportive undergarment.

Appropriate dance attire is important for several reasons:

*A Final Note:

Tights and leotards can sometimes be tricky in the restroom, so we ask that ALL dancers use the restroom prior to class. We also recommend that parents help their young dancers practice using the restroom while in dance clothing at home, since they will need to be able to use the restroom independently when they are in the studio.
