SPRING 2025 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Classes held at the Beautiful Balance Ballet Studio, located at 4661 N. Commerce Drive
Primary Ballet (ages 4+, 60 minutes)
This class is a fun introduction to ballet and creative expression! Students will learn beginning ballet skills as they participate in activities designed to help them strengthen their balance, coordination, and stamina. Rhythm and musicality will be encouraged through joyful choreography, and story-telling through dance will be explored. (Pre-Primary and Primary Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 1 (ages 5+, 60 minutes)
In this class, traveling movements are more complex, and dancers will work to master simple jump combinations. Coordination and control of the body, arms, hands, and head will be improved. Creative expression and story-telling through dance will be encouraged, and teamwork will grow as dancers work together to learn increasingly coordinated choreography. (Primary and Grade 1 Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 2 (ages 6+, 60 minutes)
In this class, students will be introduced to a classical ballet routine, including occasional barre work. Proper turnout and formal ballet positions will be taught, along with exercises that help increase flexibility, strength, and balance. Emphasis will be placed on turning, jumping, and linking steps, and students will be introduced to simple grand allegro combinations. (Grades 1-2 Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 3 (ages 7+, 60 minutes)
A structured ballet class routine of barre work, center work, and corner work will be observed in this class, and dancers will work to increase their stamina. Proper form and alignment will be emphasized, and choreography will become more artistic and challenging, while still being enriching and fun! (Grades 2-3 Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 4 (Ages 8+, 60 minutes)
In this class, a thorough understanding of ballet vocabulary and the memorization of progressively difficult combinations will become increasingly important, but dancers will continue to be encouraged to find joy in dance and creative expression. (Grade 3-4 Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 5 (Ages 10+, 90 minutes)
This class will provide dancers with intermediate-level technique practice, along with the skills and strength training needed to prepare for pointe work. Students in this class will participate as a corps de ballet (group) in the recital. (Grade 5 Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet 6/Ballet 7 (Ages 12+, 90 minutes)
Students in these classes will be working on advanced-level technique. These students will participate in group dances, and they will also be given small group, duet, and solo opportunities. (Intermediate and Advanced Foundation Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Pointe (Ages 13 and older; 30 minutes)
This is an optional, free class available for dancers who are enrolled in Ballet 6 and 7. Pointe technique and training will be taught in a safe and structured way. Readiness of students to begin pointe will be determined by the teacher. (Intermediate and Advanced Pointe Royal Academy Curriculum will be used.)
Ballet Technique (60 minutes)
These are non-performing classes that will focus on building strength, increasing flexibility, and refining artistry and technique. It will provide an important bridge for dancers who are interested in preparing for advancement and future pointe work.
